CNBC, Pick The One To Go By.

Earlier I ranted briefly about the corporate news world being full of crap. Now check this out, straight from another Mega Corp's news outlet, named CNBC. Yup, published the same day, and all 3 stories are about America's economic indicators. Which side are you on?

Brought to you by CNBC "First in Business Worldwide, and sometimes second or third, in fact, all 3 at the same time if you don't notice":

1) US headed sideways for the near future. READ THE STORY

2) US headed for a double-dip recession later this year. READ THE STORY

3) US headed out of the recession later this year. READ THE STORY

Many of you are smart enough and know how this works. The other, well, hey there you Tea Party guy! Long live the ignorant sheeple.

Consumer Spending Is Up?

I'm sure you've heard on the corporate news box recently that consumer spending rose 0.2% from a flat April. Also, incomes have risen 0.4%.

THE TRUTH: Consumer spending is up mainly because our power bills are going up. Oh, about the income increase, this is due to the hiring of Census Workers recently.

Man, I'm sick of all this crap and fake news.

McDonalds McNuggets Are Not Created Equal

While our home life has become a cost-cutting and budgeting task the last few weeks, I am thankful that one of the things we have cut are fast food eating. I say this because cutting back means not having to eat all that insane chemical stuff that's in the cheap fast food world.

According to this article, British McNuggets have less calories AND chemicals than US versions. Yuck, check this little snip out:

"American McNuggets (190 calories, 12 grams of fat, 2 grams of saturated fat for 4 pieces) contain the chemical preservative tBHQ, tertiary butylhydroquinone, a petroleum-based product. They also contain dimethylpolysiloxane, “an anti-foaming agent” also used in Silly Putty.

By contrast, British McNuggets (170 calories, 9 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat for 4 pieces) lists neither chemical among its ingredients."

Just disgusting... no surprise either.

Today's Funtime

First off, I was very lucky to attend a great multi-cultural event in Los Angeles, thrown by the Mayor himself last night. Hopefully I can post some pictures of the event later.

But the reason I'm posting this is to remind everyone that today is the Raiders of the Lost Ark screening at the Fox. I plan to arrive with the kids around 1:30pm. The great part is after the screening, we will head over to the historic Phillips Mansion for Ice Cream and games!

Hope to see everyone out there this afternoon.

Political Funnies

Busy with many events the past few days. The Dodger game on Sunday was a blast even if they lost. And this week is flying by with all the things going on during the week. I have 2 boys with daily basketball practices at 2 locations, not to mention meetings and birthday parties during the week (Happy B-Day ROLO!). A bit of bad news, Spain lost to Switzerland in the world cup today (un-frickin' believable!). The USA will play on Friday, so hopefully that will be a better game.

Anyways, just ran across these political funnies and thought I'd share.

Carmen - Repertory Opera Company

Yes, this Saturday is the offical 2nd Saturday ArtWalk of Downtown Pomona. What better way to fill your day than to attend the awesome 'Carmen' opera brought to you by the ROC. It begins at 2pm and the ArtWalk kicks off at 6pm. Talk about a fun filled day!

"Carmen is our most well known and most popular opera, bringing gypsies, smugglers, soldiers, forbidden love and pure love together. It is a clash of cultures where duty and freedom collide and in the end it is the love that Carmen wildly pursued that is her undoing as Don Jose would rather kill her than see her with another man. This opera is filled with tunes we know and love including the Habanera, the Toreador song."

Taking place at:

First Christian Church of Pomona
1751 N. Park Ave., Pomona, CA 91768
Tickets are $30
for more information (909) 230-4949
or visit their website at: RepertoryOperaCompany.org

BP Buys Google & Yahoo Search Words

I read over at the Examiner.com that:

"In their most tenacious effort to control the ‘spin’ on the worst oil spill disaster in the history, BP has purchased top internet search engine words so they can re-direct people away from real news on the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe.

Yes, their buying up search words relating to oil spills etc. Don't believe me? Go to google and type the words "oil spill".

Check out the TOP sponsored link.

The article I mention above goes on to say:

"BP can spend millions on advertising campaigns, and they can try to misdirect people on the internet. But no matter how hard BP tries or how much money they spend on public relations, they will never be able to hide the apocalypse unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico. You just can’t buy or smile your way out of a multi-billion gallon oil spill disaster."

You got that right...

Again, you can read the article HERE @ EXAMINER.COM

No More Rose Bowl Thursday Movie Nights.. For Now.

I've just received notice that the THURSDAY Movie Nights at the Rose Bowl are no longer. A financial decision was made this past weekend and as far as I know, the thursday night movies are over. This can change, and I will keep you updated as soon as I find anything out.

The Movie Nights started out with a slow start, but was quickly gaining momentum. The problem was they were started in early May, and weather was cold at night. I am trying to find out if we can keep going, now that summer is here and a lot of schools/colleges are out.

Again, I'm sorry for those of you who went and wanted to continue to attend, as well as those of you who couldnt wait til schoool ended in order to attend.
