The New City Hall

I'm trying to imagine what my great grandfather had seen working in Los Angeles during the 20s & 30s. Did it look this clean? This looks like a bragging postcard for L.A.'s tourism or modernization times of the late 20s. Wait, wasn't there a depression right after it was built?
