Chino Prison Blues...

While at the ArtWalk this past Saturday, I had asked why there were so many Pomona Patrol Cars around the area. They told me that there was a riot happening as we spoke, and Pomona PD was oncall waiting for the okay to go help at the prison. But it looks like the authorities at the prison were able to get a hold of the situation. There were still injuries, but it certainly could of been worse.

"Authorities believe the riot was prompted by tensions between black and Hispanic prisoners.

About 80 officers responded to the riot with batons, pepper spray and other measures, including "lethal options," Hargrove said. The housing units were secured by 7 a.m. Sunday.

More than 200 inmates were treated by prison physicians for minor injuries, and 55 were taken to hospitals. Injuries included stab wounds, slashes and head trauma."
